Johnson, age 61 of 275 Harmon Street, Forest City, NC died suddenly on Wednesday December 30, 2009 at Rutherford Hospital. He was born July 2, 1948 in Burlington, NC and was a son of the late Clarence and Ina Mitchell Johnson and was reared in the First Wesleyan Church of Burlington. Marlin was the former minister of Mount Olivet Wesleyan Church in Liberty, NC for four years before moving to Forest City where he has served as the minister of Trinity Wesleyan for the past 18 years. He attended John Wesley College and Southern Wesleyan University. He and his wife recently purchased a retirement home in the Rock Springs Community of Rutherford County. Survivors include his wife Susan Dawalt Johnson of the home, two brothers, Paul Johnson of Burlington and Stephen Johnson of Wake Forest, NC, a sister, Brenda Doby of Burlington. There are also a number of aunts, uncles and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Two o’clock Saturday, January 2, 2010 in the Trinity Wesleyan Church with Reverend Jerry Lumston, District Superintendent of the NC Western District, Rev. David Emery, and Rev. Donald A. Dawalt officiating with ministers of the District serving as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery.
