Mr. Walker Benton “Ben” McCrary, age 77 of J. Morgan Street, died Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte. A native of Haywood County, NC, he was a son of the late Jennings and Lucille Ratcliffe McCrary; retired draftsman with AGI, Inc., a carpenter, attended NC State University, a member of First United Methodist Church, Forest City, and was a US Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his daughters, Julie McCrary Hodge and Jennifer Lynn McCrary, both of Forest City; two brothers, Sam McCrary of Maggie Valley, NC, and Gardner McCrary of Huntland, TN; two sisters, Katherine Jackson, and Doris Ward, both of Asheville, NC; six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held eleven o’clock in the morning Thursday, December 3, 2009 in the First United Methodist Church, Forest City with Rev. K. Wesley Judy and Rev. Scott Butler officiating. Interment will be held three thirty Thursday in the Finchers Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Waynesville, NC. Visitation will be held from ten until eleven Thursday in the church parlor.
