Name: Robert Hoyle Powell Date: August 20th, 1921 - October 14th, 2009 Obituary: Robert Hoyle Powell, age 88 of Pearidge Rd, Bostic, North Carolina died, Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at Rutherford Hospital. A native of Rutherford County, he was a son the late Ruffin Powell and Grady Scoggins Powell; a retired contractor, holiness preacher and evangelist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Powell earlier this year. Survivors include a son, Rick Bailey of Morganton, two daughters, Betty Mayfield and her fiancée, Bryan, of Morganton, Joye Stevens and her husband Kelly of Bostic, a sister, Irene Ward of Hickory. There are four great grandchildren, Devon, Jessica, and Camrun Stevens of Bostic, and Tyler of Forest City. There are a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Two o’clock in the afternoon, Friday, October 16, 2009, at the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with the Reverend John Jackson officiating.
