Obituary:
Mrs. Betty Shires Hoyle, age 67, of Harrill Dairy Road, Forest City, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte. A native of Rutherford County, she was a daughter of Hazel Williams Shires of Forest City, and the late Milan E. Shires; retired customer service representative with AGI, Incorporated; homemaker; graduate of Cool Springs High School class of 1959; and was a member of Florence Baptist Church and The Helping Hands Sunday school class. In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband, Clark G. Hoyle of the home; two sons, Jon Hoyle of Forest City, and Richard Hoyle of Ellenboro; two daughters Sharon H. Godfrey and Luann H. Powell, both of Forest City; a brother, Wayne Shires of Forest City, four sisters, Helen Price, Ann Yelton, Martha Lancaster, and Mary Skipper, all of Forest City, grandchildren, Jared Godfrey, Jason Godfrey, Kathryn Earley, Melanie Earley, Suzanne Earley, Kayla Hoyle, Kelsey Hoyle, Kelly Hoyle, Nathan Hoyle, and Norman Powell, and one great grandchild, Phoebe Godfrey. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Melanie Dawn Hoyle. Funeral services will be held 2 pm Friday, June 19, 2009 at Florence Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Gantt and Rev. Shane Kirby officiating. Interment will follow in the Alexander Cemetery, Forest City. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at The Padgett & King Mortuary.
