Ray M. Hunter, age 76, of 211 Kingsley Park Dr., Moore, South Carolina died Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at his home. A native of Burlington, North Carolina, he was born July 11, 1932, the son of the late Lester Henry Hunter and Rose Morgan Hunter. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and had owned several businesses in Greenville and Spartanburg for several years. Ray was a Shriner, and an avid golfer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Donald Hunter, and a sister, Mildred “Midge” Collins.
Surviving is his wife of 22 years, Barbara Jolley Hunter of the home, one step-son, James Richards, and wife, Diane, and a special granddaughter, Hunter Richards, all of Lyman, SC. Two step-granddaughters, Michelle Burrell and Tasha Burrell, and five step great grandchildren. One brother, Harold Hunter of Lyman, and one sister, Jan Pate of Poteau, OK. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Graveside service will be held at Eleven o'clock Saturday May 16, 2009 in the Cool Springs Cemetery.
The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge of cremation arrangements.
