Name: Virginia Alley Green Date: January 29th, 1934 - April 1st, 2009 Obituary: Virginia Alley Greene, age 75 of 2251 Tail Water Road Lot 8, Newton, NC died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at her residence. A native of Rutherford County; she was a daughter of the late Oscar W. Alley and Effie Morgan Alley; she retired from Rose’s Discount Store and later worked for Abernathy Care Center, was a member of Crestview Baptist Church, Forest City and attended Faith Baptist Church, Newton, NC, and was a member of a gospel singing group out of Crestview Baptist Church from 1983 to 1997. She was preceded in death by a sister, Kay Alley Ford, and a sister-in-law, Doris Arrowood Alley. Survivors include her husband Spurgeon Green of the home; a son, Glenn Hardin, Jr. and wife Kay of Lincolnton; a daughter, Glenda Young and husband Larry of Clarkesville, TN; two brothers, O.W. Alley, Jr. of Forest City, and Jimmy Alley of Spindale; a sister, Brenda Alley of Forest City; four grandchildren, Allen Hardin and wife Janis of Newton, Michael Bailey of Maiden, Jason Hardin of Lincolnton and Matt Hardin and wife Danielle of Lincolnton. Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock Friday, April 3, 2009 in the Crestview Baptist Church with Rev. Boyce Gregory, and Rev. Tommy Young officiating.
