Name: Martha Jane Dodson Date: September 22nd, 1925 - March 29th, 2009 Obituary: Martha Jane Dodson, age 83 of Forest City died Monday, March 30, 2009 at Hospice House of Forest City. A native of Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Hicks and Emma “Skinny” Blackwell and widow of the late Ben Dodson; retired textile worker and attended Corinth Baptist Church, Ellenboro. She was preceded in death by a son, Marion Melrose Ruff, Jr. in 1970. Survivors include three step-sons, Keith Dodson of Ellenboro, Randy Dodson of Burlington, NC, and Eugene Dodson of Blacksburg, SC; three daughters, Brenda K. Greene and Rita Diane Atkins, both of Rutherfordton, and Beverly Jean Melton of Forest City; two sisters, Mary Shehan of Rockingham, NC, and Betty Bishop of Tryon, NC; five grand children, five great grandchildren, and a number of step-grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 pm Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at The Padgett & King Mortuary with Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating. Interment will follow in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
