A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Jasper Yelton and Ellie Guffey Yelton; a homemaker; and was of the Holiness faith. Survivors include her husband, Robert Powell of the home; a son, Rick Bailey of Bostic; and two daughters, Betty Mayfield of Morganton, NC and Joye Stevens of Bostic. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, April 1, 2009 in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will follow the service at the home, 824 Pea Ridge Road, Bostic.
