Name: Oscar Chapman, Sr. Date: July 22nd, 1922 - March 29th, 2009 Obituary: Oscar Richard Chapman, Sr. age 86 of 2299 Highway 226, Bostic, died Sunday March 29, 2009 at his residence. He was a native of Rutherford County and a son of the late Joseph William and Loney Roberson Chapman, of the Baptist Faith. He was retired automobile salesman and owner of Chapman and Son Used Cars. He was preceded in death by a son, Oscar “Jimmy” Chapman and a daughter Frances Shehan. Survivors include his wife, Dessie Hollifield Chapman, three daughters, Ruth Shook of Newton, NC, Shirley Toney and Helen Murray both of Bostic. There are 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great- great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday April 1, 2009 at First Broad Baptist Church with Reverend Kenneth Knipe, Reverend Linda Ferguson Allen and Reverend Kevin Towery officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 1-2 pm prior to the service. The family will be at 991 Joe Bostic Road, Bostic, NC.
