Obituary:
Don “The Tire Man” Lennon, Sr., age 87 of 388 Brooks Road, Bostic, died Sunday, March 15, 2009 at his residence. A native of Catskills, NY, he was a son of the late Matthew Lennon and Marguerite Bartholomew Lennon. He was the owner and operator of Don’s Tire Service, worked as a news paper carrier for both The Daily Courier and Charlotte Observer, and was a US Army Veteran of World War II and also a US Air Force Veteran during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Jeffrey Galvin in 2000, and also two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Carole Snyder Lennon of the home; a son Donald Matthew Lennon, Jr. of Bostic; a step-daughter, Kimberly Campbell of Bostic; a sister-in-law, Lois Lennon of Daytona Beach, FL; and three grandchildren, Hope Campbell and Justin Campbell, of Bostic, and Daylan Bradley of Rutherfordton. A memorial service will be held at 6 pm Thursday, March 19, 2009 in the Cornerstone Fellowship Church with Rev. Mike Snelgrove officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 6 pm Thursday in the church sanctuary. Following the service, military rites will be accorded by the Rutherford County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043. An online guest registry is available at www.padgettking.com. The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge of cremation arrangements for the family of Mr. Lennon.
