Rev. Charles Street Obituary

Reverend Dr. Charles Ray Street, age 85 of Bostic, died on the Lords Day, March 17, 2024.  He was born on September 19, 1938, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Kenneth Tanner Street and Sally Odom Street. 

Charles was a Charter Life Underwriter and Insurance Agent having founded the Charles R. Street Insurance Agency of which he served as President.  He was a member of the National Life Association, the American Insurance Association, and former President of the Rutherford County Life Underwriter’s Association.  He was also honored to be inducted into the Who’s Who of Executives and Professionals.

First and foremost, he was a man of God who served others as a pastor and friend.  His first Pastorate was at Faith Baptist Church, and he went on to serve several churches in both North and South Carolina as well as being the founding Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Bostic.  He holds both a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Baptist College and a Ministerial Doctorate.  He also holds an honorary degree for the Baptist College of Charleston.  Charlie was a man of faith, compassion, and humility. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Davis Street in 2015,  his daughter, Deborah Lynn Street Allen, and his sister, Frances Street Burns.  

Survivors include his daughter, Pamela Joy Street Hawkins and husband, Kelly of Forest City, his brother, Ronnie Street and wife, Anita of Rutherfordton, his sister, Brenda Street Terry of Shelby, and his son-in-law, Barry Allen of Bostic.  There are also two grandchildren, Dusty Allen, and Ashley Parker, as well as five great-grandchildren, Landon Allen, Dylan Parker, Wesley Allen, Trent Parker, and Lauren Allen.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock on Thursday, March 21, 2024, in The Padgett and King Chapel with the Reverend Chad Sisk, and Reverend Jonathan Lankford officiating.  Interment will follow at the Bostic Baptist Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o’clock prior to the service.
